Making money on the internet is simpler than you think. Why?

See, the reason why people think business is hard because they've been told the lie of artificial complexity.

Artificial complexity = make stuff sound complex to sell your stuff

Many fake gurus and coaches create artificial complexity to sell you their stuff. You've probably seen their content, ads, and webinars:

"You NEED my 67-step LinkedIn lead generation hack!"

"Without this SECRET YouTube algorithm Chrome extension, you'll never win!"

These people make things sound overly complex to make money.

They only talk about that nonsense because they either:

a) Don't know what they're talking about

b) Want to sell you their overpriced tactics

In reality, making money on the internet is insanely simple.

I can prove it to you. Any person that makes $100k+ MRR on the internet uses the same 3-part Content GPS strategy:

  1. Get attention
  2. Capture attention
  3. Monetize attention

The only reason you haven’t implemented this is because you think it’s hard. You think it’s hard because you’ve been overloaded with complexity. But it’s simple.

Here’s how to use the 3-step Content GPS system to make $100k a month on the Internet:

Step 1: Get Attention (By Creating Content On Social Media)

Most founders think they have a product problem.

In reality, they have an attention problem.

If more people know about your offer, you make more money. (Click to tweet)

The key is to be INSANELY simple with your messaging and content:

  • Pick one big idea to be known for (mine is "Proven systems to grow a profitable audience with organic content")
  • Create one clear, memorable hook around it
  • Have one specific call-to-action you want people to take

If your 1 idea is powerful enough, the remaining pieces fall into place.

Your job isn't to talk about 1,000 ideas once - it's to talk about your 1 idea 1,000 times.

"What should I write about, Matt?"

Take your big idea and apply proven content frameworks such as:

  • Lessons
  • Mistakes
  • Systems
  • Steps
  • Habits
  • Etc.

For example, if your one big idea is "helping men in their 40s get in the shape of their 20s", your content would be:

  • 4 mistakes men in their 40s make that prevent them from getting in shape
  • 7 diet systems men in their 40s need to get in shape
  • 9 steps to get back in the shape of your 20s

Can you see how it's the same idea said a thousand ways?

You know you're doing it right when you start to get bored of your own idea.

Action steps:

  1. Post 1x a day on 1 platform (preferably LinkedIn)
  2. Spend 1 hour a week studying the best creators in your niche
  3. Spend 1 hour a week studying your own posts and improve for next week
  4. Spend 10 minutes a day networking with creators in your niche that have 10,000+ followers

This WILL get you to 10,000 followers.

But an audience without cash flow is just a hobby.

You need to capture your attention to keep it forever.

Step 2: Capture Attention (With Irresistible Lead Magnets)

Social media only shows your content to 5-25% of your total audience. That's why you need to build an email list – it's an asset nobody can take away from you.

The best way to capture email is, again, pretty simple - tell people about your newsletter.

Link your email list everywhere:

  • In social posts
  • Below YouTube videos
  • In your featured profile section

After you've captured attention, educate your readers.

Because there are only 2 reasons someone won't buy from you:

  1. They don't want what you're selling (they don't understand or need your offer)
  2. They don't trust you enough yet (lack of relationship)

Educational newsletters solve both problems.

Action steps:

  1. Talk to followers about their biggest challenges
  2. Write a weekly newsletter addressing these challenges
  3. Build a simple newsletter landing page
  4. Mention your offer in every newsletter

Then, you're ready to make $$$ from your audience...

Step 3: Monetize Attention (By Productizing Your Knowledge)

I know creators with 100,000+ followers who make less than $5k per month, and creators with less than 5,000 followers who make $100k per month. What separates the two is that the latter knows how to monetize.

At its essence, creating products is no different than creating content -

Create something of value to your target customer.

The Dead-Simple Way To Turn Your Free Content Into a Paid Offer

When monetizing your knowledge, think of it in terms of access levels:

You can instantly make your knowledge more valuable by increasing access.

For example, if your content is about getting a Digital Nomad visa in Spain, your paid offer could be "we get the visa for you" – same information, 100X more valuable.

Talk about it on social media. Talk about it in your newsletter. If nobody buys, create a different offer. Eventually, you’ll find an offer that customers love. Then, build out the infrastructure to sell it at scale.
